*Gathering Music

"City of God"

(pale blue)  #3  (vs.  1)

"Praise Ye the Lord"

(royal blue)  #258  (Refrain)

*Call to Worship

Leader:  I will sing to the Lord as long as I live,

all my life I will sing psalms to my God.

People:  May my meditation please the Lord,

as I show my joy in Him!

Leader:  Bless the Lord, O my soul.

O praise the Lord.

*Hymn

"Come, O Spirit, Dwell Among Us"

  (royal blue )  #129  (vs. 1, 2, 3)

*Prayer of The Day

(in unison)

We sing psalms of praise, O God; we gather in praise of Your Name.

You send Your Spirit into our midst, filling us with the Promise of New

Life.  We are aglow with the Light that Christ shines on the new day,

dispelling the darkness of the night that has passed.  Be among us to

gather our words of adoration, and be in us as we seek to

obey Your Will.  Amen.

*Words of Encouragement

(in unison)

Leader:  With new life all about us, O God, we cling to old ways.

In spite of Your Promises, we seek self-assurance.

People: You send the Holy Spirit to enliven our existence.

Leader:  The darkness of doubt dispels the New Light the Spirit brings.

People:  We are afraid to admit what it might mean if we surrender our

selves.  So, we continue to pursue our flights of fancy, and

pretend that we can go it alone.

Leader:  God has mercy upon us and hears our confessions.  In Christ we

have assurance that we dwell not alone.  All who approach God

with a desire for wholeness will be filled with Living Waters,

which the Spirit gives.  Be refreshed in your quest to do what is

faithful, and be alive with the Promise of God's guidance and care.

*We Sing Our Praise

(Sing 2 times)

Surely it is God Who saves us;

We will trust in God and not be afraid,
It is God Who is our stronghold and our sure defense,

And God will be our Savior.

*Extending the Hand of Fellowship

Leader:  The Peace of Christ be with you.

People:  And also with you.

Jesus lives again, earth can breathe again,

Pass the word around:  loaves abound!

The Food Pantry Items for 2008

Food supplies and varieties vary from week to week.

Suggestions: Any foods that require only water to prepare, such as:

pancake mix, grits, hot cocoa, soup, etc.

They also need: peanut butter, canned spaghetti with sauce, and

cans of salmon.  These are good for both Seniors and Families.

Any, and all, contributions are welcome.

Please bring your items any time during the month,

and put them in the grocery cart at Reid Church.

The second Sunday of each month we dedicate our Food Pantry items

from the previous month's collection.

Reminder:  Cash donations are particularly important to this program,

as well as your donated items.

Please make your check out to Reid Church with a memo "For Food Pantry",

and then you can put it in the offering plate.

Marcy Shook, Church Treasurer, will see that it is sent to the Food Pantry.

Note:  The numbers the Food Pantry serves daily

is what they served in one month in 1989.
