Preparatory Thoughts

"There's something wrong with Easter.  The problem is not whether it happened, how it happened,

its power, or its meaning.  What is wrong with Easter is us.  Neither our believe nor proclamation

accomplish faith.  It is our enactment of faith which makes Easter real.

~  Rev. David Good.

Alleluia, Alleluia, joy and love to all.

*Call to Worship

People:  You can't get it Online.

Leader:  You can't pick it up at Wal-Mart.

People:  Easter must be lived.

Leader:   Easter.

People:  You can't buy it.

Leader:  You can't ingest it, or drink it.

People:  Easter must be lived.

Leader:  Easter.

People:  You can't get it in an hour on Sundays.

All:  Easter must be lived.

*Hymn

"Every Morning is Easter Morning"

The First Work

Leader:  In life and death we belong to God.

Life demands our gratitude.

Life demands our courage.

People:  Life and all its gifts come from God.

Life and how we live is what we give to God.

Leader:  Without our active relationship with God,

and embodiment of God's Purpose ...

All:  faith is an empty hour,

and the resurrection is a parlor trick.

The First Musical Thought

"He Lives in You"

Reid Singers

Prayer of The Day

Wondrous God, You have brought us in safety to this new day.  You have made

us for life and faith.  Preserve us with Your Power, that we may not fall into death,

nor into our own brokenness.  And safeguard us from adversity.  But in all things,

we pray, call and direct us to Your Purpose; to share love, to live in right

relationship, celebrating the life which You have given.  We pray through Christ

who lived Your love, even through death, and even now, calls us forth.  Amen.

*The Practice of Encouragement

Leader:  And so the women went to the tomb, taking the spices which they had

prepared, and they found the stone rolled away.

People:  As we gather in faith, Christ calls us from the tomb of our brokenness.

Leader:  As the women faced the empty tomb, they were perplexed.  Then the messengers said,

"Why do you seek the living among the dead?"

People:  As we gather in faith, Christ says:  "leave death behind.

Be set free in life, and go forth."

Leader:  New life is ours.  Forgiveness unto life is ours.

People:  God's Love in Christ is given to us and we are made alive.

Thanks be to God.  Amen.

*We Sing Our Praise

(Sing 2 times)

Surely it is God Who saves us;

We will trust in God and not be afraid,
It is God Who is our stronghold and our sure defense,

And God will be our Savior.

*Extending the Hand of Fellowship

Leader:  The Peace of Christ be with you.

People:  And also with you.
