Please greet new and old friends as you arrive for Worship.

Then, listening quietly to the Prelude, prepare yourself

for Worship with a time of silent prayer, and meditation.

PRELUDE & QUIET MEDITATION

Who among us had not prayed to God for something at one time or

another.  Jesus in our Gospel lesson this morning is clearly emphatic:

God answers prayer!  So, echoing the old saying: "Be careful what you

pray for!", then perhaps we all should be cautious as to what we pray for.

GREETING & ANNOUNCEMENTS

(Please sign the Attendance Pads as they are passed.  Thank you.)

*PASSING THE PEACE OF CHRIST

Leader:  The Peace of Christ be with you.

People:  And also with you.

Leader:  Let us extend the right hand of Christian fellowship to our neighbors.

*Hymn

"When Morning Gildds the Skies"

  (royal blue)  #487

CALL TO WORSHIP

(Psalm 85:7-12)

Leader:  Show us Your steadfast love, O LORD, and grant us Your salvation.

People:  Let me hear what God the LORD will speak, for He will speak

peace to His people, to His faithful, to those who turn to Him in their hearts.

Leader:  Surely His salvation is at hand for those who fear Him,

that glory may dwell in our land.

People:  Steadfast love and faithfulness will meet;

righteousness and peace will kiss each other.

Leader:  Faithfulness will spring up from the ground,

and righteousness will look down from the sky.

All:  The LORD will give what is good, and our land will yield

its increase.  Righteousness will go before Him, and

will make a path for His steps.

THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION

(in unison)

We blend our voices in common confession, O God,

You are our hope of salvation.  The Apostle teaches that

there are varieties of gifts, yet we judge others because they

do not fit our mold.  There is one Savior, yet we mistrust those

who do not believe as we do, and doubt that they are led by the

same Spirit.  Forgive us for the many ways we sever the parts of

Christ's body.  Through Him reconcile us and pardon our

estrangement.  Let us confess our sins against God and our

neighbor.  Amen.

(Followed by a moment of silent prayer.)

ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS

Leader: By the obedience of One, Jesus Christ, you have been

counted righteous.  Your prayers have reached God.

You have been delivered from death to life.  Grace

abounds!  Believe the Good News!

People:  In Jesus Christ we are forgiven.
Let us forgive one another.   Amen.

Reid Church Tour Guides Needed

Do you know the history of Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church?

If not, would you like to learn?

Do you have extra time?

Would you be interested in taking people on a Tour of Reid Church?

We need people interested in taking people through the Reid Church

building telling them a little about Reid's history, the Tiffany windows, etc.

It only takes 15-30 minutes, depending on how long visitors want to

look at the windows, take pictures, etc.

The Richmond Tourism Bureau gives out Reid Church's office phone

number, and people call Linda to make an appointment to go through

the Church building.  Usually there are 1-3 people, sometimes 5-7,

rarely more than 10.

We also give each visitor a Flyer that tells about the building, symbolism,

bells, Daniel G. Reid, etc.

If you're interested in being a Tour Guide please call Linda at the Church

office (966-7618) Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
