PRELUDE & QUIET MEDITATION

Although it is something we do a lot more than our ancestors did --

celebrating the Lord's Supper.  How often do you think about it?  What

does it mean for all of us to come to the Table of the Lord and to share a

holy meal together?  How do we share its blessings?  Amen.

GATHERING AROUND THE WORD

GREETING & ANNOUNCEMENTS

(Please sign the Attendance Pads as they are passed.  Thank you.)

*PASSING THE PEACE OF CHRIST

Leader:  The Peace of Christ be with you.

People:  And also with you.

Leader:  Let us extend the right hand of Christian fellowship to our neighbors.

*HYMN

#482

"Praise Ye the Lord, the Almighty"

CALL TO WORSHIP

(Psalm Psalm 147:1-4)

Leader:   How good it is to sing praises to our God!

People:  How pleasant it is to honor the Lord with praise!

Leader:   The Lord rebuilds Jerusalem and gathers the exiles of Israel.

People:  The Lord heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

All:           Let us worship our God.

THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION

(in unison)

You are the light of the world, O Christ, yet we do not reflect that

light.  You have called us salt, but our lives are bland and inspire no

one.  You have wisdom and the means for discerning your will.  Yet

we are aimless and prisoners of the whims of others.  Forgive our

lackluster performance as actors in your drams of salvation.  Set us

right and renew us by your Spirit.  Amen.

ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS

Leader:  Hear the Good News!  Through the words of God spoken through the prophet

Jeremiah:  "I, I am he who blots out your transgressions for my own sake and

I will remember your sins no more.  I declare to  you in the name of Jesus

Christ, our risen Lord, you are forgiven.

People: In Jesus Christ we are forgiven. Let us forgive one another.   Amen.

THE SACRAMENT OF HOLY COMMUNION

Invitation to the Lord's Table.

The Great Prayer of Thanksgiving.

Leader:  The Lord be with you.

People:  And also with you.

Leader:  Lift up your hearts.

People:  We lift them up to the Lord.

Leader:  Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

People:  It is right to give thanks and praise.

Leader:  It is truly right and our greatest joy to give you

thanks and  praise, ...

Therefore we praise you, joining our voices with

angels and archangels and with all the faithful of every

time and place, who forever sing to the glory of your name:

People:  Holy, Holy, Holy Lord, God of power and might,

heaven and earth are full of your glory.  Hosanna in the

highest.  Blessed is he who comes in the name of the

Lord.  Hosanna in the highest.

Leader:  Accept this, our

sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving as a living and

holy offering of ourselves, that our lives may proclaim

the one crucified and Risen.   Great is the mystery of faith:

In Unison:  Christ has died, Christ has Risen, Christ will come again.

The Lord's Prayer (debts and debtors).

Breaking of the Bread.

Communion of the people.

PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION

(In Unison)

In union with your church in heaven and on earth, we pray, O God,

that you will fulfill your eternal purpose in us and in the world.  Keep

us faithful in your service until Christ comes again in final victory, and

we shall feast with all the saints in the joy of your eternal kingdom.  Amen.

The Food Pantry Items for 2012

PLEASE NOTE:  The Pantry is in need of financial help currently.  Monetary donations have been

down this summer and client numbers have increased.  They would appreciate any monetary

donations you could send to them so that they can purchase the food needed to serve their

clients.  Please send them to:  Community Food Pantry, P.O. Box 1345, Richmond, IN  47375-1345.

They need your prayers and help in continuing to serve the hungry in our city.  Thank you.

Food supplies and varieties vary from week to week.

Suggestions: Any foods that require only water to prepare, such as:

pancake mix, grits, hot cocoa, soup, etc.

They also need: peanut butter, canned spaghetti with sauce, and cans of salmon, canned potatoes, canned meats, rice dishes, and saltine crackers.

These are good for both Seniors and Families.  Any, and all, contributions are welcome.

Reminder:  Cash donations are particularly important to this program,

as well as your donated items.

Please make your check out to Reid Church with a memo "For Food Pantry", and then you can put it in the offering plate.  Those doing our Church Finances , will see that it is sent to the Food Pantry.

Note:  The numbers the Food Pantry serves daily is what they served in one month in 1989.
